PKRA Brazil - Single
Riders meeting was set for 11 AM! First we had to do trials, and afters the singles! More than the quantitiy of the riders was the quality of all those who had to go through trials: Rocky, Marc, Ariel, Alex Pastor, Alex Soto, me, all the Brazilian locals, Reno,... so the trials will not be easy, and with my incredible luck I also got an easy round :-( having to go against Ariel Corniel (PKRA Champion in Cabarete) and the British rider Sam Light! 2 riders would advance, the other one would have to go to the loosers round!The wind was less than light: 10-14 kts, with the current, and me not having a bigger kite than 11, so my heats looked like this: on the way out 1 jump, on the way back another trick, and then having to go upwind 200 meters! After going through this for 4 times, I was done, and the time was up! The other two riders had bigger kites, and were able to show their tricks as usual! So it went as it had to be: I had to go through the Looser-round, against a russian rider!
At least the wind picked up, and so I was able to show all my tricks with my usual strenght: 4 switch tricks including a backmobe, frontmobe, slim chance, and the 313, inclduing a KGB and a BlindJudge regular! This would not only have been enough in a heat like this, so I felt ready fort he upcoming Single-Elimination!
The wind picked up even more, and so I could use my 9 just perfectly! My draw however was worse: Cezar Portas! We had spent a lot of time together training at the lagune, and I knew how strong he was right now! And thats how it was: he did several switch tricks, everything totally powered, and released a sick frontmobe5 at the end! I could not come up to this with my 3 switch tricks, and some other moves, so I had to wait fort he Doubles!
Kevin won the Singles easily! The whole event was marked with outstanding effort of all athletes: Alex was the first one ever to jump 3 different double passes in one heat: SlimChance-Pass, Move7, Double313!!! The level was really unbelievable, so lets see what the Doubles will bring! Also, someone has to put Aaron on the 3rd place, so Kevin still has a chance to become World Champion! So everything is still possible :-)
